Security Cameras on Property indigoexuma-THE STORY In the late sixties, American real estate developer Frank Magnuson purchased 5000 acres and 4 miles of ocean-front on Great Exuma. He then designed and built his personal dream home on this exact spot. Fifty years later, we purchased this iconic property and completed a $1,000,000 full renovation of the house. The renovation was completed in 2020 by Canadian master-builder. We are now pleased to offer this iconic super-cool property for vacation rentals in hopes that the people of the world will fall in love with this property and recognize the "IT" factor that this special site elicits. The house is built at the top of a hill on the highest point in the surrounding area and then gently slopes down 150’ to a spectacular 450' pocket beach. Indigo House is strategically located between the airport (2 miles) and the sprawling Emerald Bay Resort (3 miles) complete with its Greg Norman championship golf course and world-class mega-yacht marina. Grocery Stores: George Town has a couple of grocery stores and other shops to get provisions. Located in Georgetown, Exuma Markets is the largest grocery store on the island, but we prefer Prime Island Meats. Prime Island Meats is located 5 miles south of the airport and is our first and best choice for food. It is owned by an immensely helpful guy from New Jersey. It has freshly imported meats (steak, chicken, pork, lamb, sausages) and seafood, as well as other grocery items like fruits and vegetables. They offer call ahead ordering. They are closed on Sundays. Convenience Stores: (Liquor/Wine/Beer): Bowes Shopping Plaza is a strip mall 3 miles north of the airport and close to Indigo House. Also, Smitty's (basic food, liquor and pharmacy)-located 6 miles south of the airport. Our Passion We are hopeful that you will choose Indigo House as your host property for your Exuma holiday. As the principal owners of three hotels on the island, we strive to provide Exuma’s best experiences. -The Peace and Plenty Beach Club is a total joy. Spend the afternoons bouncing between Peace and Plenty Beach Club and the Chat N Chill Beach Club nearby. It also allows for exploring the 2-mile windward “wild ocean” beach on the other side of Stocking Island. A great natural adventure for the whole family. -Rent a small boat from Minn’s Water Sports and go explore. Ask Minn’s to provide maps of the sandbars and coral reefs. You will experience the enjoyment of boating from island to island in some of the most beautiful waters in the world. End the day at the Peace and Plenty Beach Club for food, drinks and fun. The perfect day! -Visit the various restaurants on the island, hang out and connect with the local people. Exuma is a small, low population island where everyone knows and looks out for each other. Crime (especially against foreigners) is virtually non-existent. Go out there and mix it up! -Enjoy the Indigo House! To max out the experience, open the main central sliding glass doors and let the wind rush in. Turn on music via the TV and let it play throughout the house. Sit outside on the deck at night and watch the moon rise over the ocean. Sit on the benches near the water in the sun or shade and watch the waves bounce sideways against the coral rocks. Do exercises/yoga under the shaded pavilion down by the water. Swim in the ocean, use the boogie boards, snorkel, and look for lobsters in the coral heads. Skinny Dip, if not here…. where? 1.Can we get down to the beach from the house? Yes, from the wood boardwalk, steps go down to the beach. Depending on season and tides the beach can be smaller or larger. Late June through July is when the beach is smallest, even non-existent. In this case, the steps will still take you to the water and you can wade a dozen yards over the next pocket beach. 2. Is the ocean swimmable? Yes, nothing but beautiful white sand bottom as far as you can see, just the right temperature and swimmable. There are days that are perfectly flat and days with big waves (fun for some) but I would rather stay on the deck watch and listen to the crashing of the waves. 3. Is there always beach, even at high tide? There is usually beach. The beach size, shape, and depth change with tides. Late June through July is when the beach is the smallest, even non-existent. You can still get to the water from the steps during this time. Tide Table Link: www tide-forecast./com/locations/Steventon-Great-Exuma-Island-Bahamas/tides/latest 4. Should we rent a car?
